Chapter 14
âIs this report accurate?â asked Dougall as he scanned through the thick folder the woman put on his desk. He was sitting in his office which was huge, featuring a large desk, a built in bar and a big movie screen that was set into the only solid wall in the room. The rest of the room was made up of windows all showing the same view, the blackness of space. He liked feeling like he was in the middle of nowhere; it threw people off just a little. He wanted this ship to be placed just far enough out of the reach of any curious eyes.
When he started building his army, he took the name âAlmightyâ, mainly for the peons of the Earth dimension. Once they heard his omnipresent name they practically begged to be in his army. They were a foolish people, so easy to manipulate. He just had to tell them there was a cause to fight for and they were there, no questions asked, ready to give their lives if they had to. Every one of them wanting to be martyrs. They were a joke and he would feel nothing when they were sacrificed.
âYes, sir, we have our best men on it.â The woman was a whiny little thing, always sucking up, thought Dougall. Always saying âYes sir,â âNo sirâ, it was annoying. He would be much happier when he could get rid of her.
âIâm sure you do, but I must have some sort of verification. I canât just wipe out two of my best people and then find out I made a mistake.â He spent a lot of time placing these two into the roles of Gladys and Hal Fraser.
âYes, sir,â Dougall winced at the words, âIâll find you what you need as soon as possible.â
âSooner than that, I hope,â he said, staring right into the womanâs eyes.
âShe's kind of beautiful,â he thought, âbut I donât have time for play right now, perhaps later.â He smiled at the thought.
âYes, sir,â she said then turned and left.
Dougall let out a heavy sigh as he watched her go. Too bad she was so annoying. He thought he was lucky to have found her. She seemed to have come to him out of nowhere. He had heard that somehow she had gotten to the Earth dimension from the Abyss dimension. Apparently, a little known, centuries old portal leading directly to the Earth dimension brought her there. The Abyssians have a reputation for causing great corruption wherever they go and are often assassinated when discovered. So the woman had shown great courage in coming this far. Dougall admired that but she was still annoying.

Jezebel had roamed the Earth dimension for a few hundred years, disguising herself as different people and enjoying her many conquests. She had lovers everywhere, too many to keep count, not that it mattered, one was just like the next and none could ever satisfy her. When she grew tired of them she would kill them and dispose of them, feeling nothing in the process.
